Amalric is an excellent actor but he hasn’t done a great deal in English. (BTW ladies if you ever need French to English translations not chomped up by a computer, just email me!) THe Pastry Assasin role seems a little sparse for an actor of his stature. Then again, great actors have no problems doing even cameos in the films of great directors like Cronenberg.

If Torval weren’t supposed to be so burly, Mathieu could do him well. Kozmo the cab driver is another interesting role… but he’s written as Black (not necessarily in the script tho).

This is cast is absolutely first rate. I’m bowing down to David right now. You are a marvelous beast Mr. Cronenberg!

  Since reading the book, I’ve felt like the Pastry Assassin (wow is it difficult to have a semi-serious conversation about a pastry assassin) could be a role that gets beefed up. He talks to Eric, Eric could have a real moment, you know, before beating the snot out of him. The Pastry Assassin has quite a speech to deliver AND I’ve pictured an elaborate flashback sequence (you know when the PA is regaling Eric with his past triumphs?) of all these heads of state (Chretien, please Chretien, because it really happened and oh my god I WANT this), famous peeps, etc. Could end up a very significant role. He will definitely leave an impression.

I first thought of him as Torval, since I don´t think Cronenberg is going for the actors as described in the book by DeLillo… but maybe he is going to be pastry assassin.
It will be interesting when all the actors are confirmed and if DC kept all the characters.

what i´m also hoping to see if CD kept in the seen where Eric hits the pastry assassin, the part that he goes crazy and crosses the street to punch the paparazzis taking the pics … that would be an amazing moment for Rob, like a catalyst, I would bet
